8. Johanna – Anthony
What is it about this film and weird obsessions?!
Anthony glances at a woman for all of two minutes before declaring he wants to ‘steal her’. She’s not a bag of sweets… you can’t just nick her from the shop, mate.
“Do they think that walls can hide you? // Even now I’m at your window // I am in the dark beside you // Buried sweetly in your yellow hair.”
It’s creepy! The only reason this song ranks as it does is because it’s almost annoyingly catchy and you can dramatically belt it out as you’re watching along.
7. Epiphany – Sweeney Todd & Mrs. Lovett
Narratively, this is one Sweeney Todd’s most important musical numbers; it’s the moment the titular character clearly loses his marbles.
Flipping between tunes from earlier songs, he dramatically stalks down the streets of London hunting for a victim.
If you didn’t believe Todd was a drama queen from the song I mentioned before, then this should prove it.
6. Not While I’m Around – Toby & Mrs. Lovett
Poor Toby.
He’s oblivious that Mrs. Lovett is in on the whole thing. He even vows to protect her from the villainous Mr. Todd. As the songs ramps up in drama, it captures one of the saddest moments in the film. We come to understand, just as Mrs. Lovett’s face changes, exactly what has to happen next, and heartbreakingly it does.

5. Worst Pies in London – Mrs. Lovett
This is undisputedly one of the more recognisable songs from the movie and it’s easy to see why. It’s memorable, quirky and fun; all of the traits any fan of Todd would come to expect. It’s just a shame that it will likely you put you off your dinner…
