2. Lestat – Interview with the Vampire (1994)
In 1994’s adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1976 gothic horror novel “Interview with the Vampire”, Tom Cruise plays Lestat de Lioncourt, a charming and frightening vampire with a flare for the theatrical. He’s attractive and otherworldly, his skin like marble, his eyes cold and grey. His blond hair falls in waves, just barely touching his shoulders. Lestat seduces both men and women alike, relishing in the hunt, but his love and obsession with Louis (Brad Pitt) is palpable. His kiss of death is orgasmic, sending both he and Louis floating up and into the black night.
Lestat’s impulsive nature is as invigorating as it is disturbing. His eyes go from teasing to murderous in a flash. He is both sophisticated and crude, spouting poetry about eternal life one moment and dancing with the corpse of a woman the next. Interview with the Vampire loses something after Lestat is gone, seemingly murdered by Louis and Claudia (Kristen Dunst). No one can match his chaotic, sexual energy.
1. Dracula – Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)
The number one spot on our list belongs to the count himself… Dracula.
In Francis Ford Coppola’s 1992 adaptation of Bram Stoker’s novel, Gary Oldman’s Dracula takes many forms – warrior, aristocrat, prince, wolfman – but none is more sensual and romantic than that of a man so in love and in grief that he sells his soul. His seduction of Mina (Winona Ryder), the reincarnation of his dead wife, is hypnotic – it’s genuinely painful to see how deeply he feels her loss.
Bram Stoker’s Dracula is filled with nudity, blood, and sex, with Dracula bringing forth the dormant sexual desires of the film’s female characters. He ignites Lucy’s passion, condemning her to an untimely death. The scene in which Dracula finally bites Mina and she feeds from him, drinking from a wound on his chest, is erotic and filled with longing. Gary Oldman’s long curls and billowing shirt are certainly swoon-worthy.
What’s sexiest about Dracula is how far he’s willing to go for the women he loves, traveling centuries, defying death, desperate to be united once more.
