6. A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon (2019)
Placed at number six is Richard Phelan and Will Becher’s out-of-this-world sequel to A Shaun the Sheep Movie; A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon.
Shaun and the flock encounter an alien with extraordinary powers and must find a way to return her home in order to prevent her falling into the hands of the Ministry for Alien Detection. This charming and fun adventure joins the list of highest-grossing stop-motion animated films of all time and even won awards for Best Long Form and Best Effects.
5. The Pirates! Band of Misfits (2012)
Based on the book of the same name by Gideon Defoe, The Pirates! was Aardman’s first stop-motion ‘claymation’ film since Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit in 2005. Boasting a host of famous voices, this film follows the Pirate Captain and his crew of amateur pirates in their attempt to win the Pirate of the Year competition. This imaginative and amusing feature grossed highly at the box office and only narrowly missed out on an Academy Award in 2013.
4. Arthur Christmas (2011)
Directed by Sarah Smith, Arthur Christmas is a heart-warming and fun holiday film featuring the voices of some of Britain’s best-loved actors; James McAvoy, Bill Nighy, Hugh Laurie and Imelda Staunton, amongst others. This is Aardman’s first collaboration with Sony Pictures, and it makes for a lovely Christmas film to watch come each December.
