10 Best Spider-Man: No Way Home Moments
2. Spider-Men Unite
The worst-kept secret in Hollywood was finally revealed to audiences with the release of No Way Home, but that didn’t make it any less thrilling to see it play out on the screen.
Spectators around the globe screamed in glee as Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire united together to battle the villains of their past, confirming long-standing rumours that the trio would join forces as the multiverse was unleashed.
A vast array of heroic moments unfolded between the trio, but seeing the three Spider-Men swing through the air in battle was a sight to behold, bringing the dreams of many fans to reality. As they embrace one another in victory, it is clear that our heroes hold ample respect, love and admiration for each other. Not only were they able to save the universe, but they’d each found vindication for the personal traumas and heartaches that they had been holding onto.
1. The Amazing Spider-Man Saves MJ
Andrew Garfield had unfinished business with Spider-Man. His two outings as the wall-crawler were met with mixed responses from audiences and critics alike, though most agreed that his adventures in spandex offered great character work despite the less-than-stellar plotlines. Garfield is an excellent actor, proven by a body of work that includes two Oscar nominations (for Tick, Tick…Boom! and Hacksaw Ridge). However, his turn as the webslinger was brought to an abrupt end when Sony pulled plans for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, deciding instead to revamp the character in collaboration with Marvel Studios.
We last saw Garfield’s Peter in mourning following his failure to save his long-time love Gwen Stacey, played by Emma Stone. A number of years have passed since her death, but Peter reveals to his variant selves how he has continued to hold onto the rage and bitterness at his own failure to save Gwen.
No Way Home provides a two-fold redemption story, not only for Garfield who offers his best performance as Spider-Man, but also for his Peter Parker during the final clash.
As he battles alongside Holland and Maguire to cure their enemies, MJ is thrown from The Statue of Liberty by an enormous explosion. In a scene mirroring the finale of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter instinctively jumps to save MJ, soaring to rescue her from the same fate that ultimately killed his Gwen. The pain and relief emitted by Garfield as he embraces MJ offers a sense of salvation for Garfield’s Peter, providing one of the most emotionally powerful scenes of any Spider-Man film.
