2021 Golden Globes – Film Nominees
The nominees for the 78th annual Golden Globes were announced today, 3rd February 2021, with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) choosing the best of 2020/21’s cinema and television.
In a delayed announcement presented by hosts Taraji P. Henson and Sarah Jessica Parker, and streamed via the E! News YouTube channel, the HFPA chose to celebrate the likes of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Netflix hit The Trial of the Chicago 7, as well as independent hits Nomadland and One Night In Miami.
The Golden Globes ordinarily mark the start of the big industry awards shows across the English speaking world, with each year’s awards ceremony taking place during the first week of the new year. For 2021, the announcement of the nominees was delayed in accordance to the delay of the 78th Golden Globes Awards ceremony which will take place live from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday 28th February 2021.
The HFPA’s choices in filmmakers across its major awards are usually seen as indicators as to how members of the likes of the BAFTAs and Oscars will vote in the ballots for their respective awards shows.
Announced ahead of time was the awarding of the Cecile B. deMille (lifetime achievement) award to screen icon and rights activist Jane Fonda.
